According to the new law, a survivor of child sexual abuse or child sexual assault has until his or her 40^th birthday to file a lawsuit.

Three-Year Window Open to Sexual Abuse Survivors of Any Age to Seek Justice and Accountability

The new California law has also changed the time a person of any age can file a sexual abuse lawsuit for a period of three years. Specifically, the new California law allows a person of any age a period of three years beginning on January 1, 2020, to file a lawsuit seeking accountability and compensation associated with child sexual abuse. This window is open no matter how long ago the incident occurred. And, as was mentioned, the ability to pursue a lawsuit during this time period exists for a person of any age.
