El Paso Toddler in Critical Condition After Near-Drowning

|

A 2-year-old boy was in critical condition after reports say he was found in a backyard pool in an Upper Valley neighborhood outside El Paso, Texas last month. The toddler was hospitalized in critical condition after he was discovered in a backyard pool in a gated community on Vereda del Valle Avenue, a police spokesman reportedly said.

Reports say the boy was playing outside with his 8-year-old brother when the older brother left the area. About ten minutes later, the child's mother, searching for the boy, found him in the pool. The boy evidently slipped in while trying to grab a toy that fell in the water. Initially, emergency crews believed the boy had died, but they were able to regain a heartbeat and rushed him to the hospital.

Open pools can easily injure or kill small children who wander in and slide into the water accidentally. In tragic circumstances like this pool accident, the parents and family may seek to find a responsible party.
