A man was mortally injured in a traffic accident in the 4400 block of Kashmere about 6:10 p.m on Feb. 18 and later died from his injuries.
The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition, but doctors pronounced him dead on Tuesday, March 9. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.
Reports say the driver of a red Ford F-150 pickup truck was speeding eastbound on Cavalcade when he turned north onto Kashmere and struck the victim, who was on a bicycle. The driver was issued citations and released at the scene.
In an incident where a car hits a much more vulnerable cyclist, typically the blame lies with the driver of the automobile. Still, it is the obligation is on the victim's family to find fault with the driver. As always, expert counsel is critical.
