A female child injured in a traffic accident in the 3500 block of War Memorial in Houston, TX on March 22nd has died from her injuries. Destiny Garcia, 8, of Houston was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital on Tuesday, March 23rd.
The accident occurred when a white Mitsubishi Montero, which was traveling south on War Memorial, when Destiny abruptly turned from her mother and ran into the street. She was struck by the vehicle.
Witnesses who reportedly saw the car accident ran to aid the child. The driver of the Montero stopped, walked back to where the child was laying and asked what had happened. When witnesses stated a sport utility vehicle hit the child, the driver denied involvement and fled the scene. Police have been searching for the Misubishi and its driver and the investigation is continuing.
