Fifteen-year-old Ron Edmonds, of Franklin, MN was remembered at a vigil Sunday, the day after he drowned in a private lake in a Franklin neighborhood. The popular middle school student was reportedly swimming with friends when he drowned.
Edmonds mother, Lisa Allen, publicly let the two friends Ron was swimming with that she doesn't blame them for his death, and they shouldn't blame themselves. She said there was nothing else they could do to save him.
Family members say they hope the tragedy serves as a reminder to take extra precautions while swimming this summer. And as summer heats up, parents in the area know that drowning deaths will rise.
In tragic lake drownings such as this, families of the victims need to know their rights. This accident occurred in a private pond, and there may be some responsibility on the part of the owners or managers of the pond. To find out if restitution is due, they need expert counsel.
