Wrong-way Driving Ends in Death

|

Austin Police Officers responded to a three-vehicle car crash in the 3300 North IH 35, northbound where one Austin resident was killed as she reportedly drove the wrong way against traffic.

The accident occurred as a grey Mercury Tracer, driven by Kadye Anne Cooper, 21, was reportedly driving southbound on IH 35 in the northbound lanes. The Mercury crashed head-on into a grey Toyota Camry that was travelling northbound on IH 35. A black Ford F-150, also traveling northbound, then struck the Mercury.

Kadye was pronounced dead at the scene, while two females from the Toyota and a male from the Ford were transported to University Medical Center-Brackenridge with serious injuries.

It's still not known whether alcohol or seatbelts were in use, nor is it known whether alcohol was a possible cause of the accident. The investigation by APD continues on this, the 16th fatality of 2010 in Austin.
