A woman crossing corner of 40th and Spruce streets in Philadelphia was hit and injured recently by a trolley, reports say.
The woman, who was unidentified other than what witnesses report as a black woman in her 60s at the 40th Street intersection shortly after 6 p.m. late last month, was evidently trying to catch the trolley when she slipped and the vehicle hit her.
She was taken via ambulance to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was treated and released within a few hours. Some witnesses said she flipped over several time in the air before landing back on the ground, reports say. Some of those who assisted her afterward were left with blood on hands and clothing. The accident tied up traffic for at least an hour, and the investigation was continuing at last report.
