Tolley Accident Shuts Down Corpus Christi's Harbor Bridge

|

A three-car accident involving a trolley shut down Corpus Christi's Harbor Bridge for several hours last month as officials and emergency crew forced a massive cleanup, reports say.

According to reports, a Chevrolet with three people inside was in the right lane with a flat tire at the base of the bridge. A blue Chevrolet, also with three people inside, was coming down the bridge and attempted to change lanes to stay a safe distance from the stopped car. An RTA trolley, with 10 aboard, was behind and couldn't stop in time, hitting the Chevrolet from behind.

Five people were taken to area hospitals, including three children - one of whom was thrown to the floor when the trolley collided with the Chevrolet. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Reports say the RTA bus driver was cited with failure to control speed. Emergency crews forced the shutdown of the bridge to attend to the injured. The bridge was reopened about 90 minutes later.
