The Consumer Products Safety Commission recently announced recalls for two wooden rattles, as well as liquid-filled teething rings, affecting Kid O Products, of Perth Amboy, N.J. and Calisson Inc.
The first recalls pertain to around 1,500 Prisma and Duo style wooden baby rattles. Reports say the Prisma rattle, which is shaped like a bell, has beads that may separate from the rattle, which may pose a choking hazard. The Duo rattle, two interlocked rings with bead accents, have the same issue with the beads separating under some circumstances.
The second recall pertains to Calisson, and is aimed at about 7,000 Cool-it Soothers by Vulli, which are being recalled because reports say bacteria and mold can grow inside the liquid inside the rings if the teether is punctured. Although the liquid isn't poisonous, it can cause illness, including diarrhea and vomiting.
The Cool-it teething ring, a clear plastic ring which is attached to a plastic handle in a cartoon shape, was reportedly sold nationwide. Consumers should immediately take the recalled teething ring away from children and return it to Calisson for a free replacement teething ring.
