A vendor for Pepsi Beverages Company of Roanoke, Edward Smallwood, suffered severe head trauma while making a delivery Friday morning at the Salem Walmart, reports say. Smallwood, 33, was injured in the loading dock area when he went under a metal ramp to pick up an item and the ramp fell on him.
The incident is being investigated by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
He was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and was still considered critical earlier this month. Smallwood has been employed by Pepsi for about 7 years, reports say.
