The 16-year-old girl killed in a crash in a Wal-Mart parking lot was laid to rest earlier this month, reports say.
The young girl, Ashley Moore, died when the SUV she was riding in smashed into the fire exit doors and a portion of the brick wall on the front of the Wal-Mart store in Dunn, (???). The driver of the car, boyfriend Dillon Tart, survived the crash.
Reports say an eyewitness heard Moore screaming before the SUV accelerated through the parking lot, hit two parked cars, then flipped over after striking the curbing.
Paramedics, who were eating at restaurant across the parking lot, witnessed the crash and were on the scene to render aid within seconds. Both were transported to the hospital, where Moore died. Tart was released a few days later.
Police are reportedly reviewing video from Wal-Mart's parking lot cameras and getting help from the Highway Patrol's accident reconstruction team. As of this report, no charges had been filed, and reports say police are still trying to determine whether the crash was a crime or an accident.
Moore's friends and fellow students built a makeshift memorial in front of the Wal-Mart.
