Five Killed in Truck Accident at Mt. Pleasant, Texas

|

Semi-Truck Slams Into Rear of Mini-van Carrying Family of Five

A complicated and deadly series of collisions took multiple lives on Interstate 30 outside Mt. Pleasant, Texas. An initial accident resulted in no fatalities but brought traffic to a standstill on Interstate 30 at Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

One of the vehicles stopped because of the first accident was a mini-van containing a husband and wife and their three children. Upon approaching the accident scene, a semi-truck driver appeared to have been driving in excess of what conditions permitted.

The semi-truck driver slammed into the rear of the mini-van. The impact was so significant that the mini-van ended up shooting into the rear of another commercial truck.

The children and their mother, in the mini-van, appear to have been killed on impact. The husband in the mini-van was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the rig that slammed into the mini-van was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck that was struck by the mini-van because of the force of the collision with speeding rig sustained minor injuries.

The investigation into the accidents is ongoing. At the current time, there has been no information released about other underlying causes for the second collision discussed here, beyond the big rig operator driving at a speed in excess of what conditions permitted. No information has yet been released that this semi-truck driver was intoxicated, impaired, or distracted.

Texas Semi-truck Accident Wrongful Death Claim

The father who appears to have survived the multi-vehicle accident is likely in a position to pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver of the semi that slammed into his family's mini-van as well as the trucking company that owned and operated that rig. There seem to be other parties against whom he can also pursue this type of legal action.

For example, the circumstances surrounding the initial collision that caused traffic on Interstate 30 may bear some responsibility for what occurred later on the roadway. The completion of the overall investigation will shed at least some light on that possibility.

In addition, an experienced semi-truck accident lawyer can be invaluable when it comes to identifying all parties responsible for fatalities and injuries stemming from a complicated series of collisions, like those presented here.

Texas Semi-truck Accident Personal Injury Claim

As has been reported, the father who lost his family appears to have sustained serious injuries in the semi-truck accident. Consequently, he also appears to have legal standing to pursue a personal injury cases seeking compensation for his own injuries.

A component of a personal injury case would also be identifying all of the parties that contributed to the accident and that legally are responsible for the injuries sustained by the father. This is yet another situation in which a Texas semi-truck accident lawyer can provide invaluable assistance to an injured person.
