The morning after the deadly Astroworld Festival concert in NRG Park we are learning even more devastating facts. It appears that Travis Scott, the headliner performer at the event who was on stage at the time of the deadly crowd surge, did not stop performing when the catastrophe began to unfold. Rather, 40 minutes appear to have elapsed from the time the stampede at NRG Park started until the show was stopped. Simply put, the show went on while some people died and others became critically injured.

Concertgoers Scream for Assistance: “Help! Please Help!”

Concertgoers can be seen screaming for help once the crowd surge or stampede started at around 9:15 Friday night, a short time after Travis Scott took the stage. In addition to people screaming for help, multiple videos of the chaotic scene make it clear that people were being injured all the while the concert raged on. Rescue teams were removing multiple injured people from the crowd, a bare fact that simply is impossible to miss by those in attendance.

There is also clear evidence that Travis Scott stopped performing for a brief period of time when the crowd surge calamity started. Despite the break in the concert when the catastrophe commenced, Scott resumed performing and did so until a full 40 minutes elapsed from the start of the deadly crowd surge. Drake was called to the stage as a surprise performing guest during the deadly time period. The concert was finally called after 10:00 p.m.

During the break, Scott surveys the crowd in front of him, including fans screaming for help as people fell out and were injured and ultimately killed in the audience. Scott screams to the endangered crowd: “I want to make this mother*cking ground shake!”

Scott’s on and off again girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, came to the hip-hop star’s defense. She contends that the singer did not know what was going on in front of him Friday night until after the concert was called due to the stampede, injuries, and deaths. Meanwhile, Kylie’s half sister was taking Instagram selfies during the calamity, posting to the effect that she was having the time of her life.

In his own defense, Travis Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, released this statement on Saturday addressing his knowledge of what was occurring at the Astroworld Festival while he performed on Saturday night:

I could never image the severity of the situation. My fans really mean the world to me and I always wanna leave them with a positive experience and anytime I can make out anything that’s going on, I stop the show and help them get the help they need, you know? If you have any information, please just contact your local authorities. Everyone continue to just keep your prayers.

The possibility might exist that on-stage talent did not have a clear understanding of what was going on in front of them during the melee. However, if this is the case, it points to a clear breakdown in the overall concert safety and security system.
