A horrific catastrophe occurred this week at a Kerrville, Texas, drag race. A driver lost control of his car and slammed into a crowd of spectators. Two children were killed in the gruesome Texas drag race accident. Eight other people were injured.

Two Boys Killed in Texas Drag Race Accident

The Texas drag race accident fatalities were a six-year-old boy and an eight-year-old boy. The names of the boys who lost their lives have not been released to the press or public. The boys evidently were pronounced dead at the scene of the tragic accident.

Eight People Hospitalized After Texas Drag Race Catastrophe

As mentioned, eight other individuals were injured in the catastrophic Texas drag race accident. The victims include a 46-year-old woman who was transported to an area medical center and is listed in critical condition. She evidently does have life-threatening injuries

Four other adults taken to area hospitals are thought to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries at the drag race. One 26-year-old man was hospitalized but his status is not known. Finally, a four-year-old boy and three-month-old girl were taken to a local hospital for what is being described as “precautionary evaluations.” These two young children evidently did sustain injuries but those injuries apparently are not deemed serious as of this time.

Drag Race: Airport Race Wars 2

The deadly Texas drag race accident took place at the Kerrville-Kerr County Airport. The event was about 60 miles outside of San Antonio.

Thousands of people were on hand for the spectacle. They were permitted to get within 15 feet of the track on which the drag race cars sped. The racetrack was in fact a runway at the airport.

While there were some plastic water filled barrels lining part of the course to separate the makeshift track from the thousands of spectators, there was no such protection whatsoever at that part of the runway near the finish line. Spectators were completely exposed at that juncture.

The Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau’s actively promoted the Texas drag race. The organization described the event as an “action packed, family-friendly day” in which spectators could watch the “fastest drag cars compete for over $8000 in total prizes.”

With that duly noted, there appears to be come belief that at least some additional information into the cause of the tragic accident will be revealed in the coming day or so.
