Five Killed, Two Critically Injured in Fresno Car Accident

A truly catastrophic car accident occurred early Saturday morning, February 5, 2022, outside Fresno, California. The wreck resulted in five deaths and critical injuries to two other individuals. The fatal automobile accident occurred when a 2016 Hyundai Accent crossed the yellow line on Millerton Road near Marina Drive. Upon crossing the roadway dividing line, the Hyundai collided head-on with a 2003 Honda Accord. The deadly collision occurred just west of the Table Mountain Casino.

• Davinder Brar, age 44, also from Clovis, California

There was one other passenger in the Honda. He has been identified as a 48-year-old man from Kerman, California. He was killed in the Fresno car accident. According to officials, the deceased man from Kerman was ejected from the backseat of the Honda and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol reports that there were four people in the Hyundai, the vehicle that crossed the yellow line and caused the deadly collision. According to the California Highway Patrol, all four people in the Hyundai were declared dead at the scene of the catastrophic incident. The names of the people killed in the accident are being withheld pending notification of family. • Driver, a man who was 20 years of age, from Tulare, California
• Passenger, a 43-year-old man from Fresno, California
• Passenger, a 28-year-old man from Fresno, California
• Passenger, a 32-year-old man from Clovis, California

One of the passengers in the Hyundai, seated in the back of the vehicle, was thrown from the car by the force of the impact. According to California Highway Patrol officials, none of the people in the Hyundai were wearing seatbelts at the time of the deadly wreck. According to California Highway Patrol Public Information Offices Mike Salas:

It is believed that none of the people in the Hyundai were wearing their seat belts, which definitely added to the severity of the injuries. The amount of damage to both vehicles was astronomical.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a preliminary determination has been made that the driver of the Hyundai that caused the accident was intoxicated at the time of the accident. A final report of whether or not the driver who caused the accident was driving under the influence of alcohol depends on an upcoming toxicology report from the Fresno County Coroner’s Office. According to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Mike Salas, “there were indications at the scene that led us to believe that alcohol may be a factor.”
