Two men ended up hospitalized after an explosion at actor Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop store in Sag Harbor. The explosion and subsequent scene in the aftermath of the blast have been described as “strange” by observers. The store is located at 4 Bay Street in Sag Harbor, New York.
The leadup to the Goop store explosion is indeed rather bizarre. Two men were in the specialty stop created by Gwyneth Paltrow some years ago. The men reported that rubbing alcohol had been placed in some of the candles in the store. The presence of the alcohol in the candles resulted in what has been described as a large explosion and significant flames.
Preliminary investigation into the presence of rubbing alcohol in candles in the Goop store revealed that the flammable substance intentionally had been placed in the candles by a store employee.
Following the explosion, the Goop store employee explained that seen a technique for making s’mores broadcast on social media that involved placing rubbing alcohol into the melted was of a burning candle. After the Goop employee added rubbing alcohol to more than one candle in the store, the explosion occurred. The worker who caused the Goop store explosion has not been identified.
As mentioned a moment ago, a pair of men were injured in the Gwyneth Paltrow store explosion. There names have not been released to the public as of this time.
One of the men injured in the Sag Harbor store explosion suffered significant burns on his ears and back. He was transported by air ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital.
The second man sustained what have been described as facial burns. He was taken by ground ambulance to Southampton Hospital. The current condition of the men is not known. With that said, their injuries are not classified as potentially fatal at this juncture.
Sag Harbor Chief of Police Austin McGuire was called upon to comment about the Goop store explosion. He replied that he had not seen anything like it in his 26 years in law enforcement. He went on to add that the situation likely would have been far worse if a fire extinguisher was not located in the store.
Goop has issued a terse response in regard to the explosion at its Sag Harbor store. In that statement, Goop denied that rubbing alcohol has been added to candles in the store. Goop evidently issued this statement despite what appears to be evidence to the contrary. Goop conceded that there was a fire at the store. However, the company stated that it was an accidental fire in connection with what it described as one its s’more stations inside the store. The representative went on to add:
We are wishing a speedy recovery to the two injured parties and are grateful there were no additional injuries. No candles were in use at the time of the accidental fire.
